January 2020 Presidents Message
Dear InfraGard San Francisco Bay Area Members, Partners and Donors,
InfraGard is a partnership of individuals representing businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement, agencies, and communities who are dedicated to collaborating and sharing information to prevent hostile acts against the United States.
In 2019, FBI Director Christopher Wray told the InfraGard National 23rd Annual Congress that the FBI will always be as persistent as America’s enemies when it comes to defending the country. However, he emphasized that there are daily threats occurring all across the nation that are to diverse and to threatening for any one agency to tackle alone.
To help combat these challenges, Director Wray expressed his support for the FBI’s public-private partnerships, and emphasized that these relationships help combat the formidable threats we fear as a nation. He further noted that “InfraGard members are brand ambassadors and partnership is critical to our success.”Consistent with Director Wray’s message, the San Francisco Bay Area Members Alliance is dedicated to helping protect the nation’s infrastructure by supporting FBI priorities and cultivating partnerships with both public and private sectors through bi-directional sharing of actionable information, training, and educational events. Our members represent all 16 infrastructure sectors, both public and private; and we recognize that no sector, business, agency, or organization is capable of surviving without external support. The interconnections between sectors, assets and public/private partners are a major part of the critical infrastructure security and resilience building effort.
It is with this understanding that I make the commitment to engage and improve in meaningful dialogue and cross-sector communication with our private sector partners to protect the people of the United States, and its interests. Not only will this communication identify the improvements in our current systems and situations, but it will identify our external responsibilities, as we build new relationships and coordinate disruptions more effectively as a whole community.
I welcome your comments and recommendations as we move forward into the new year. For information on the National InfraGard effort visit Infragard.org.
